"The Boat" - and that sums it up. Life and times on a sub during WW II.
Excellent movie. Not about the Nazis but about the hell the sub crew went through, which would also hold for the Allies sub crews. Being crammed into a small space, no windows, no fresh air - even worse for the repair crew who had to slide along under the floor to make repairs. A hard movie for a claustrophobic person to watch actually. At the end the Gerrnan crew and sub arrive at port, anticipating a well needed break. Instead the site is bombed and most of the crew kiiled. The ending is the hardest part to watch as you, the viewer, were anticipating the crew being able to enjoy a well needed break. There really is no glorification of the Nazis/Germans, just spending time with a sub crew and their fight for survival. And there is little bad about the movie, if you are watching ... Awesome film!!!
Love this wrenching, heart-stopping German U-Boat film! Incredible acting, direction by Wolfgang Peterson, and atmosphere created the feeling of pressure and near-suffocation of the crew in the deep sea below. Only the long, uncut full TV series though!!! And no dubbed version! I made that mistake once already!

Not for everyone
Movie used too many 4 letter words and sexual innuendos. Turned it off after 30 minutes. Would have been a good movie if everyone could view it. I was in the military and in those years the f--- word was rarely used to that extent.
