Since the publication of the first edition of this book in 1980, interest in Limoges porcelain has increased tremendously. This revised edition is arranged by company and/or mark. The history of the Limoges porcelain industry begins the book, followed by the histories, marks, and examples of the major factories, unidentified Limoges companies, and even miniatures. An index and cross reference to companies, initials, and symbols, are provided. -John Alvey

  • A Good Reference On Limoges Porcelain.

Upon receiving this book, I immediately noticed that every page contained in it is color. This book is considered by some to be one of the best references of Limoges and associated porcelain works. One of the first things that interested me, is the fact that the author is from the state I live in. Also, this book/author is noted in many other references I've read on antiques/porcelain, as 'the' book for identifying this type of porcelain. A minus for this type of book, if you are looking for the value of an item, is that they are out of date quickly. Anyway, for finding time period and name/kind of the piece, it's great.

  • Source for Identifying Limoges Manufacturing Companies

Beautiful examples of antique Limoges porcelain fill this informative book. Most of the many manufacturers and decorating companies are listed along with their multiple mark variations. "Book values" are seriously over-estimated and some of the company histories could use updating, but I would definately recommended this book for mark identification purposes.
