Fashioned from the Lockheed Model 18 airliner, the Ventura went on to fight on nearly every World War II battlefront as a penetration bomber, anti-submarine patrol aircraft, reconnaissance bomber, and even nightfighter. John Stanaway is also the author Possum, Clover & Hades: The 475th Fighter Group in World War II, and Attack and Conquer: The 8th Fighter Group in World War II(with Larry Hickey). Both titles are available from Schiffer Publishing Ltd.).
