Developed and distributed by the Intel Corporation, the Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 is a versatile desktop CPU that runs at 3.16 GHz, providing all the power necessary to game and work with ease. Released in the first quarter of 2008 as part of the Wolfdale line, this processor handles very demanding software. Built upon the trustworthy frame of Intel Core microarchitecture, the Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 offers an array of technologies. Its features work together to maintain the smooth operation of the computing environment. Built for use with LGA775/T socket motherboards, this 45-nanometer dual-core runs at a speed of 3.16 GHz. It also utilizes a 6 MB L2 cache. Because a CPU of this type has a high-frequency multiplier (9.5x), the Duo E8500 is overclocked to 4 GHz. This is accomplished by combining it with a sufficient cooling system and changing certain settings in the BIOS. The front-side bus (FSB) clocks in at 1333MHz, allowing for rapid exchanges of data between the dual core and the memory controller hub. The instruction set of the chip is 64-bit and capable of virtualization when multiple users are employing the same system. Desktop users use DDR2 or DDR3 versions of 4GB RAM modules in conjunction with the hardware. With such impressive specifications, this Core optimizes the efficiency of the read and write operations of the hard drive.The Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 sports several impressive technologies that help make the user’s workflow more efficient, such as Intel’s Advanced Smart Caching. This feature allows the processor to take advantage of dynamic allocation of the L2 cache with a peak transfer rate of 96 GB/s. The Wide Dynamic Execution enables it to execute more instructions within each clock cycle. In addition, Intel’s Smart Memory Access intelligently arranges core execution orders for data use optimization. These features increase speed and enhance performance for intensive tasks. Furthermore, this CPU running at 3.16 GHz has a thermal design power (TDP) designation of 65W. While notably low, the core sometimes generates a lot of heat when under heavy loads. Intel’s Intelligent Power Capability mitigates the effects of such excessive heat from the core. It monitors power consumption and reduces the noise of the system. By implementing the aforementioned technologies, Intel lengthens the life of its processors while preserving the integrity of systems.Combined with an air cooling system and a compatible motherboard, this line of CPUs provides optimal performance.
