About this product

Product Information

Based on the hit 1980 film by Alan Parker, this show revolved around an ensemble cast of students who attend New York City's High School for the Performing Arts. While struggling with the same problems of teenagers everywhere--including first love, sexuality, alienation, family troubles, and loneliness--the kids also have to try to develop the skills they need to succeed in the cutthroat world of show business. Lydia Grant (Debbie Allen, MONA MUST DIE) is a dance teacher whose emphasis on discipline is tempered by a deeply compassionate side. The students include the outspoken and ambitious Coco (Erica Gimpel), who in the first season competes against Lydia for a part in a show, and Doris (Valerie Landsburg), who features in the first episode as the shy new kid in school. Doris learns to come out of her shell, discovering her talents and her passion, and befriends the sensitive, gay Montgomery (P.R. Paul). Shy, quiet music student Bruno (Lee Curreri) falls in love with Kathleen, later to discover that she has multiple sclerosis, while comedian Danny (Carlo Imperato) has to deal with his father's disapproval of his chosen profession.

    Fame I'm Gonna Live Forever

    I'm gonna learn how to fly! How I loved this series..as a teenager I loved to dance, but because I'm hearing impaired I didn't think it was possible, but watching this show each week showed me it was..I even received compliments on my dancing, but that was a zillion years ago..I was thrilled to find season 1 for a great price..My favorite character was Bruno of course and I got a kick out of Leroys spunk..sadly actor Gene Anthony Ray (Leroy) died in 2004 from complications of a stroke and was according to his Mother HIV positive he was 41 and will be greatly missed!! Other Cast members have been lost as well Mr. Sherofosky (sp) Albert Hague was taken by cancer..there are sadly others I'm sure..still other cast members went on to enjoy more "Fame" Lori Singer (Julie) who played in one of my ...

    Fame: Gonna Live Forever

    This first season of the hit series fame reflects the movie style and spirit with a few new characters and a few cast changes. the story lines are simple but well written. the acting veries from being well done to overthe top cheesy but it all works well with the theme of the show. Aside from the lack of Coco in the end of the season it has the perfect beat.

    Fame - The complete first season

    Loved the lessions for my daughter to learn. She hopes to be a singer someday .. but now is getting to understand all the hard work it will take. Acting ... well not so hot in the early shows but greatly improved as the saeson continued.

    Fame - First Season TV Series

    I always loved this program. The songs and the dance are wonderful! I bought it because it always makes me happy when I watch it. If you like singing and dancing, you will love this DVD series. I can't wait to find the second season.

    Fame review

    I loved this show when I was little! It is great to watch all the talent that was in this show. Debbie Allen is one of my favorites from this show.
