Great album. Thoughtful and tough.
Always interested to hear what is running through Mr. Knopfler's brain... Great album, covers a lot of ground (and time). I think it is really fine form that he wrote both a James Taylor song and a Van Morrison song for the album and had them perform it with him. Well worth listening to multiple times just to enjoy the sometimes hilarious, sometimes haunting lyrics. When is the last time you listened to an album that covered life from both sides of the Atlantic, the old west, urban decay, racism, auto racing, and celebrity culture?Always interested to hear what is running through Mr. Knopfler's brain... Great cd from a talented songwriter.
Great cd. I bought it for one song, but my preference keeps changing between songs. There is something for everybody in this compilation. It's kind of amazing, but I was listening to a financial investment adviser on the radio who out of the blue recommended Mark Knopfler and some of his music soundtracks. I decided to check him out and got very interested in his work.
