Great Dose of '80s Nostalgia
Always good for a trip down memory lane. The G1 animated TF movie inadvertently became a cult classic. The way it handles a beloved character initially made it a financial and fan failure. All the filmmakers wanted to do with it was to eliminate the first wave of toys characters, then advertise the next wave. But in addition to that they actually accidentally touched the minds and hearts of millions of kids worldwide. Eventually fans forgave them for it and learned to appreciate all that this little movie offers. This package is overflowing with extras, spread across both discs. In them, the movie's makers readily admit the above. It's hard to imagine how the recently announced upcoming Blu-Ray edition could possibly top this.Always good for a trip down memory lane. Corporate Dream Crushing At Its Best!!
Thats right,I rated it good. I almost changed my mind about doing this review, but I'm hopeing someone at Hasbro reads this. I mean, if it wasn't for my love of the Transformers I would have gave this movie a poor grade, after all... What do you say about a movie who's only purpose was to wipe out a large portion of all the characters whom the fan base loved with all their hearts, just to replace them with a bunch of empty shells who couldnt get to a second season. Seriously.. You kill your characters so that way you can bring out the new line of toys to sale??????????????????????????????????????? I have to say that,yes, I was one of those lil kids sitting there watching the most wanted movie of my young life. I remember wondering when I was going to see my hero ... Poor guy, If you were new and in a red shirt you knew that meant you wouldn't live past the first half of the show. lol I've expressed to both Mr. Cullen and Mr. Welker that I wish they would correct this horrible tragedy and pick up where they left off at the end of the original series. (After Prime comes back the last time,and not as the zombie.) To end this, I have to give them credit! The animation still beets half the stuff my kids watch today. The voice acting is top notch. Its a great cartoon/movie. It's just sad that it was corporate greed which decided how this movie went down. Till All Are One...

Culmination of “The Great War”
This is a must have for any fan of the original Transformers series. It takes place between seasons 2 and 3. The plot is that despite the conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons; Earth and Cybertron alike are in jeopardy. Unicron; a gigantic transformer eating planet threatens to end all life in the galaxy. With a great soundtrack, an all star cast, this movie will not disappoint any transformers fan. Highly recommend. This is a must have for any fan of the original Transformers series. It takes place between seasons 2 and 3. Forget these new Transformer movies. I mean Megatron and Optimus go at it to the death in the beginning of the movie? How awesome is that? Even though they were getting their tail whip and were on the run most of the movie in the end they unleashed the power of the Matrix and opened a can of whop $ss on Galvatron and Unicron!

Optimus Prime is planning a massive assault on Cybertron, but Megatron has similar ideas, and launches an attack on Autobot City, nearly decimating the entire Autbot force before retreating. Of course, this being a movie, things get complicated: Unicron, the devourer of worlds turns up, and is heading for Cybertron. The movie just follows these robots along as they spend most of the 84-minutes fighting. All the new characters are introduced by having an established character say to the new character "Hey! (new guy) Blow up that thing!" or, "Hey! (new guy), attack those bad guys!". Awesome. I love movies where fights aren't disrupted by petty things such as plot details or character introductions, it makes things much more fun. The animation is generally better than it was in the TV series. Add to that an 80s soundtrack, consisting of only 80s pop and hair-metal. Awesome. Of course, not everyone is going to like the soundtrack. In fact, I'm willing the bet that a majority of people would loathe the soundtrack, but that is not important, because the soundtrack is awesome. Plus there are some really cool quotes. Yay. 9/10 - Only for fans (of either Transformers or 80s music)
