About this product

Product Information

European developer Cauldron's follow-up to The History Channel Presents: Civil War -- A Nation Divided trades bayonets for sub-machine guns in Battle for the Pacific. This first-person shooter has players fighting alongside a close-knit squad in some of the most intense battles fought in World War II's Eastern Front. From Henderson Field to Mount Suribachi, players will advance through thick jungles, across volcanic islands, and past fortified caves to complete objectives. Documentary videos preface each mission, offering detailed statistics, battle footage, and other enlightening information. Authentic mission types include recapturing airfields, repelling enemy assaults, embarking on search-and-destroy operations, and more. Among the weapons available to players are sub-machine guns, sniper rifles, pistols, and grenades. Online support is included for both Allied and Axis forces in a choice of competitive and cooperative modes.

    Wasn't Expecting Much

This is a budget title from 2007 and it definitely shows. Have played through 6 missions so far in about an hour on hard mode which isn't much of a challenge. NPCs stand or sit around as the beaches their base is on are being bombed. Scripting and animation is poor. There is no real sense of a story. Enemies are vapid and braindead, posing no real threat on normal difficulty. Controls are poor, especially when looking around. There are also periods of low frame rate and graphics overall are bland at best. The friendly AI also can get stuck, so you can't complete a level if this happens. Got this game for my collection to own the history channel Xbox 360 games and wasn't expecting much. Still happy I picked it up for a low price.

  • Not as bad as they say

Good Points- Graphics, Multiplayer, Single player campaign Weak Spots- Somewhat glitchy in spots, Light pauses when saving checkpoints *Not smooth transition*, Nobody plays online. I bought this game because it was like a really bad car accident, you've heard it's sooo bad you just have to take a look. I am actually enjoying this game. I own Halo 3, Vegas and COD2, 3 and 4 and I am a FPS fan. This was a game I wanted to jungle warfare and for the $30 it was worth it. Definatly not worth 60.... but $30 is pretty good. Bang For Your Buck rating 7/10

  • Basically a cheaper, less detailed version of Call of Duty

The game is okay. It's basically a cheaper version of "Call of Duty". It was not a bad deal for the price, so it wasn't a bad purchase but if you want more detail in a game, you'd probably be better off with one of the "Call of Duty" games. If you're after something simple or to explore whether you like this type of game, it might be something to try as a less costly alternative. Just keep in mind that it doesn't have the same level of detail or options as some of the other games like it. It's not bad for the price.

  • DECENT GAME

I LIKE THE GAME BECAUSE IT HAS CONSTANT ACTION BUT THE GAME PLAY IS LESS THAN PAR. YOUR COMMANDING OFFICER REPEATS THE SAME THINGS OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGIAN. GRAPHICS ARE OK, NOT UP TO PAR WITH CALL OF DUTY 4 OR HALO OR ANY OF THOSE. ALL IN ALL, NOT A BAD GAME IF YOU JUST WANT TO RUN THROUGH AND KILL SOME PEOPLE, BUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A REAL INDEPTH, LARGER MAP GAME LIKE HALO 3 OR CALL OF DUTY 4, YOU WILL BE SORELY DISAPOINTED.

  • Mediocre

Pros- Everything looks great The jungle is made realistic, with all the sounds and views a normal jungle would have Cons- AI is slow, enemies tend to just stand out in the open, sometimes they look straight at you and don't even shoot Alie AI is not smart either (Example, your captain tells you to follow him, and when you do he stops moving at certain points, in order to make him move you have to get out in front of him) Levels are repetitive This game is worth a shot, if your a hardcore fan of WWII games, in fact it even teaches you about the battles your about to enter. Everything just seemed mediocre though, the game doesn't even last for more then 5 hours. Online play is ok, but the spawning and weapons are not fair. The Japanese start out with terrible inaccurate bolt rifles, while ...
