About this product

Product Information

Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale is a 2D fighting game starring characters from Rumiko Takahashi's manga and anime series, Inuyasha. The story revolves around 15-year old high school student Kagome Higure, who inadvertently slips back in time to feudal Japan, where she becomes embroiled in a quest to locate shards of the Sacred Jewel of the Four Souls. "Feudal Fairy Tale," the game's main mode of play, follows this escapade and requires players to engage in a series of battles and mini-games in order to obtain the coveted shards. Initially, only Kagome and her half-demon companion Inuyasha are playable, but as players journey through the game, acquiring shards, more characters become available.<br><br>Each character is able to perform both strong and weak attacks, as well as throws and counter attacks. Players can also execute more powerful combination maneuvers, including special and super attacks, which can only be initiated when the Spiritual meter is filled. Additionally, specific attacks can cause opponents to drop shards that, once claimed, will fill the Spiritual meter more quickly.<br><br>"Versus Fairy Tale" allows players to fight against a single opponent, either human- or computer-controlled. Similarly, "Dream Fairy Tale" offers play against a human or computer opponent, but here each fighter is aided by a second character that can be switched in and out of play, as in such titles as Marvel Vs. Capcom and Tekken Tag Tournament. "Myoga's Training" provides for those who wish to practice their fighting skills, while "Shippo's Seven Changes" offers a handful of game options. Lastly, the "Backpack" mode features unlockable artwork and allows players to alter character voices, play mini-games, and listen to the soundtrack and voice-work from the game.

    Simple fighter, fun game.

A Feudal Fairytale is a great experience for Inuyasha and fighting game fans alike. The sprite artwork is beautiful and kind of reminds me of Street Fighter 3's sprite artwork. The game plays as a simplified fighter, but the game still manages to feel a little deep and engaging. While the game's "story mode" (I forgot what it's actually called) isn't really anything to rave about, it's still very satisfying to complete with different characters and unlock new playable ones. I do enjoy the ability to choose your path and fight battles in whatever order. It's also pretty short and makes for a nice pick up and play experience so you can beat it with different characters in rapid succession. The game can be difficult for those looking for a challenge but the difficulty can be adjusted for ...

  • A Fuedal Gaming Tale

The most important aspect of a game is wether or not you enjoy playing it. Given that we each have our own set of standards, reviewing anything is difficult. Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairy Tail for the playstation is an average game. There are moments when the gameplay is very fun, but it relies to much on its appeal to fans of the manga and show and too little on exciting or interesting gameplay. As a 2D fighting game, it seriously lags behind the competition. It's slow, characters have a very limited number of attacks, and therefore there's a lack of depth to the strategy aspect of the game. Complete mastery of every character in the game takes little more than 10 minutes of practice. Serious or "hardcore" fighting game fans will quickly realize this and be done with the game. However, as ...

  • A decent fighter geared towards fans of the series

For a Playstation fighting game, this is a pretty impressive. The counterattack system is genius (press the X button to throw your opponent off guard) but rather broken considering there's no cool-down time to it and the computer will just spam the hell out of it. The roster's not too bad, having all the main characters for a total of 12 fighters. The sprites are decent and animation is fluid. Fair warning for Inuyasha fans, the audio is all Japanese so if you thought you'd hear Richard Ian Cox, think again. Sure, the game could be better, especially the story mode but considering this was one of the last PS titles made it really isn't that bad. If your a fan of Inuyasha or anime-based games, this might appeal to you.

  • This game is like the show....the single greatest thing ever created by man

This game is like the show....the single greatest thing ever created by man! The game may be a little bit easy but you can always change the difficulty level to your preference. The game starts off with the captions in English and the characters voices in JAPANESE! I believe as the game progresses and you open the "Kagome's Backpack" feature you can change the voices to English. I love when games look arcade style so I instantly fell in love with the game. Especially considering the fact there aren't very many games anymore with the arcade style graphics. Dont get me wrong, new graphics are better and it probably would inhance the game quality, arcade style just seems to suit this game perfectly. This game will keep you amused for hours. If you are an Inuyasha fan, this is a MUST HAVE. ...

  • An awesome game for Inuyasha fans!

This is a very awesome game. it's perfect for any fan of inuyasha. If you're like me and watched or played most of the games however, the japanese voices take some getting used to. I like it though, so that really was not a major issue. The game is pretty entertaining and the button combos are not hard to remember and they're easy to figure out. You dont even ened to read the manual to start playing, that's how easy the game is. It's in all japanese, but it's subtitled so that is a major plus.
