Review of Cat Women of the moon
The movie was not that great in regard to plot or characters. However I did appreciate the early special effects it contained. They may have been a bit wooden but nevertheless entertaining. The movie is definitely worthy of praise for its being a definite pioneer of sci-fi cinema. That alone makes it truly special. The only criticism I want to express is not about the movie itself but about the high price it cost me. The approximately $30.00 price tag was a bit steep to say the least. This was a quicky-cheapy film made in the 1950s and advertised to be in 3-D. I never saw it in theaters, but the video I got of it was advertised as being in 3-D (color anaglyph), and it sort of was, which is why I bought it in the first place. To get the 3-D thing out of the way first, only a few scenes are in 3-D in the copy I have, and it's technically so poor it might as well be in monochrome. That aside, the plot is silly, the acting is unprofessional, and the sets are amateurish (e.g., the spaceship cabin has lockers such as one would find in high schools).
