just what I was looking for
I am the opposite of an Iphone user. The phone I had previously to this was the LG Rumor Touch. Man, I loved that phone! I had it since 2011. The screen got dented/scratched and I couldnt send texts anymore. The same phone brand new is still $80. Found this LG Optimus for $50. Its basically the Android version of the Rumor Touch! I really only talk and text, I dont mess around with the internet or anything, so this was an almost perfect swap. Although it can go on the net, and thats cool, I dont use the feature. Only 2 things could be better about this phone, 1. The battery life is kinda short (compared to the Rumor Touch, that is) and 2. its only got a 3 megapixel camera. Other than that I like it a lot. Worst phone ever
I bought this because I still love the qwerty keyboard. I thought it might be an upgrade from the Kyocera rise but I couldn't have been more wrong. It has horrible memory. It wouldn't let me text and made me delete all of them to free space when I had the phone one day! Battery did not last a ten hour day. No room to download any apps. HORRIBLE!

Best option physical keyboard sliderphone for VM Grandfathered plans.
Bought the LG Optimus Slider after my prior LG Rumor2 died from rainwater. This is my 1st smartphone thus far. 7 months of use as of this review date. After my LG Rumor2 no longer functioned I need something similar, but newer. LG Optimus Slider filled the void. My requirements for a phone is that... 1. Able to put in a small pocket 2. QWERTY Slide-out keyboard 3. Not a basic phone 4. Compatible with my Grandfathered VM Beyond Talk Plan. This had the best reviews of that time of purchase that meet my requirements. 2011 was the year prices for plans increased. phones released after that are not eligible for grandfathered plan. so it was my only best option. The phone physicals: I have small hands so this is perfect.I never liked the original backplate it slips out of my hand feeling ... OS: Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread. 4.3 Jellybean is the current... I can't use apps that require later revisions obviously. Internal memory is 160mb it's a cheap starter smartphone handset so I expected less. can't put too many apps I like in even if I root it. Camera is 3.2mp typical mp of bigbrand cameras from 2003-2004 it takes crisp clear pictures at a close distance if not then decent further on. shutter takes too long. physical shutter button doesn't respond most the time. lacks a timer, but there is an app for that. Battery life in stock condition is pretty poor running on average phone settings. had three stock batteries one came with the phone and two spares. all died within 5 hours of use the 1st day. bought an extended fat battery plus got juice defender app. i got 9 hours of heavy use with the fat battery. stock batteries battery life rose dramatically. February 5, 2014: This phone has been through many drops. Still functions as it should. Only the faceplates, and back plates I bought for it broke. Lately am using it as an internet tether for my tablet, and laptop. which is working really great.

LG Optimus Slider...
I found this phone to be very nice it did what I needed it to do, easy navigation, great features, I loved the slide out keyboard, calls were crisp, however it was easy for my chin to hit mute I could hear the other party however they couldn't hear me...the only big drawback I found was the camera had no front facing nor no flash for this reason I sold the phone. Satisfactory: -Battery lasts about a day with heavy use -Runs most apps smoothly -Touch screen has good response -Keyboard has nice spacing with keys Needs improvement: -Needs LED for flash with photos -Better camera image quality (images are blurry) -Old OS -A little tricky to kill running processes/apps -Two-piece plastic cases don't fit well and interfere with the sliding of the keyboard
