About this product

Product Information

Hobb brings the epic tale of the Liveship Traders--begun in Ship of Magic and Mad Ship--to its triumphant conclusion. It is a world in dire straits: Bingtown is in flames, victim of the growing war with Chalced. Althea and Brashen, aboard the Paragon, are finding their blinded Liveship increasingly unstable and unpredictable. And in the midst of the chaos arises a dragon powerful enough to forge the world as she sees fit, be it for destruction, or redemption.

Reviews
Raves for Robin Hobb's magnificent Liveship Traders Trilogy Ship of Magic "Promises to be a truly extraordinary saga... the characterizations are consistently superb, and [Hobb] animates everything with love for and knowledge of the sea. If Patrick O'Brian were to turn writing high fantasy, he might produce something like this. Kudos to the author and encore!" --Booklist Mad Ship "As splendid as Ship of Magic... with [Hobb's] hands on the wheel, High Fantasy is going to sea magnificently." --Booklist "Hobb displays a wonderful imagination... should delight fans." --Kirkus Reviews "A major work... Read[s] like a cross between Tolkein and Patrick O'Brian... Hobb gives high fantasy a nautical spin that will please a great many readers." --Publishers Weekly "Imaginative and compelling." --Library Journal "I'm absolutely astonished--this is even better than the assassin books. I didn't think that was possible." --George R.R. Martin, author of A Clash of Kings "One has to use a jeweler's loupe to find a flaw or a dull moment in this splendid conclusion to one of the finest fantasy sagas to bridge the millennium... this book soars... the characters...and world-building are of the very highest standard. Like its predecessors, this is a masterful achievement. " --Publishers Weekly (starred review)

  • Robin Hobb is a MUST read

My husband and I both read a lot so we often get books from the library. I read all three of the trilogies Robin (aka Megan Lindholm - both are pen names)has written and I have to say that they are the most amazing series I have ever read. That is why, after reading them I am buying them to always have. Most authors when writing about magic have a set of rules that the magic follows. Robins style is unique and subtle. She weaves a story like a master - you feel pulled into the world and are constantly hanging on every word to see what will happen next. These books are not written from one point of view, but many - each is different yet nothing is lost by the changes in perspective - on the contrary - each character is rich and complete. I have never had such a physical reaction to any ...

  • Ship of Destiny by Robin Hobb

I stumbled upon these books at a library sale. I like the cover so I bought it. After reading several pages I realized that it was the second book it a trilogy so reluctantly I put it down and bought the first and last of the series. It is one of those books you can't put down and it calls to you when your not reading. I am a Stephen R Donaldson fan and have never found any other books to compare with his, but I think these books are close.
