Just as cute and quirky as I remembered!

Entertaining, light-hearted musical production of a window washer who starts in the mail room of a large corporation, and ends up in the CEO's office within a few days, while following the advice from a book of the same name. Robert Morse is a charming, likable imp. I hadn't seen this movie since it came out! While not the best musical ever made, it's still entertaining, with several wonderful songs.

  • What Style...What Punch

This review is for the DVD (2000) version. I would always recommend purchasing a DVD over the video VHS version. Picture quality and special features are nearly always superior. About the Movie This is one of the great satirical, musical comedies with all the charm, character and fashions that typified the 60s. Robert Morse in the lead role is not unlike a semi-sophisticated version of one of Jerry Lewis' characters from the same era - with the exception that he sings. And, he sings some wonderfully witty songs that must be very close to the bone in companies that take themselves far too seriously. Sammy Smith is superb in his dual roles as the quarter of a century mail room head who "plays it the company way" and then later as Chairman Wally, the ex window washer. The lyrics will never ...

  • Better on stage, but great all the same

I didn't want to like this film at all, but it's got too much going for it. Most of my favourite tunes from the stage production are missing, including the highlights Cinderella Darling, Coffee Break and Paris Original. Even the standard Brotherhood Of Man seems rushed, with none of the hilarious scatting towards the end, and quite inexplicably, they do I Believe In You twice, sung at first by Rosemary. Rosemary (can't remember the name of the actress right now)... she has a really annoying singing voice but her comic timing is incredible and she is so easy to warm to. Robert Morse... what can you say? He's incredible and it's such a shame Brotherhood Of Man is such a cop-out because it could be such a showcase. Hedy LaRue is hilarious... absolutely perfect. The others I can take or leave; ...
