Teenager Daphne Reynolds (Amanda Bynes) dreams of one day dancing with her father at her wedding. Her dream is complicated by the fact that she has never met her dad, Lord Henry Dashwood (Colin Firth), a British politician to whom her mother, singer Libby (Kelly Preston), was married 17 years prior. Unfortunately, Henry's aristocratic family did not approve of bohemian Libby and drove her away. Determined to find her father, who has no idea that she exists, Daphne leaves her New York City home and runs off to London, where, much to the dismay of Henry's conniving fiancée (Anna Chancellor) and her jealous daughter (Christina Cole), she soon becomes a part of daily life at Dashwood Manor. Can a free-spirited American teenager survive in proper British high society? Not without a few bumps along the road. As Daphne tries to fit into her father's world, she has to decide whether or not she is willing to give up all of the traits that make her unique.     Great fun friday movie!

    What a Girl Wants stars actress Amanda Bynes from Nickoloden series "All That" and WB series "What I like about you" with stars such as Colin Firth from "The Bridget Jones Diary series and Pride and Predjuice" and Kelly Travolta as her mom. It's a great movie for its comedic themes that Bynes plays so well in her usual roles as the average girl with a great personality and style that set her apart from those in "the crowd" scene. It's about a young teenager who goes off to find her father in search of a realationship with him in London, UK. Where she finds him engaged to a snobby woman with a wicked step sister in tow who will do anything to send her packing her bags back to the USA. Filled with a decent soundtrack of "happy living life" tunes, good british humor, and a very cute hunk ...

    A daughter,dreams to dance with her father @her wedding

    A Teenager Daphne Reynolds (Amanda Bynes) who always dreams to dance with her Father in her wedding as there was some confusion between her mother & father, created by her Dad's British politician family soon after their wedding in Morocco. Mother leaves him for good and comes back to USA and starts singing in weddings but their daughter Daphne Reynolds (Amanda Bynes) always wanted to know about her father and on her 16th B'day mother tells her the truth then Daphne leaves house & goes to UK to meet her Father where she comes to know that her DAD is one of the candidate for UK President & soon elections are going to be held. Dad never knew about her daughter...how does she get her dad back to her motherr & also how does Daphne find her love in UK..watch this movie...you will like Amanda ...

    What A Girl Wants

    Amanda Bynes grows up nicely in this coming of comedy. I bought this video for my daughter, six, and she has watched it numerous times -- often "requesting" my presence while she watches. I loathe watching The Amanda Show with her, or anyone else; the show is loathesome, but I did find What A Girl Wants to have a light touch and a joyful message about love and paternity. This movie is everything a Hillary Duff movie isn't -- thoughtful -- not sachrine -- light handed -- not delivered with sledge hammer morality and fun. I would not have purchased this movie on my own, but if a father has to watch a tween flick with his daughter, he could do much worse. Enjoy.

    Good, safe DVD for a "tweener".

    My 11 yr. old daughter asked for this for Christmas though it's not "new". She had seen it so many times on TV but really wanted it in her collection. I have also watched it and I cannot find anything wrong with it in terms of appropriate content. It is a great little movie for that tween age!
