About this product

Product Information

Steel Battalion: Line of Contact takes the mech battles found in Capcom's award-winning Steel Battalion and brings them online via Xbox Live. Supporting the 40-button controller bundled with the original game, Line of Contact allows players to engage in five-on-five battles from a first- or third-person perspective inside the cockpit or behind the mech. Ten new Vertical Tanks have joined the mix, with more hidden somewhere within the battlefields, allowing players to choose the right type of mech with which to meet team objectives. Players must work together with teammates to plan strategies, cover specific terrain, and coordinate attacks.

  • Another use for the most awesome video game controller

I discovered Steel Battalion and Line of Contact way after its prime, so it is sad that Capcom no longer supports the online campaigns. There are still some die hard users out there if you can find them and coordinate a time to play online. LoC (as it is affectionately known by its fans) makes use of the switches that were underutilized in the original game enabling you to go 'stealth' by shutting down auxiliary systems. This is a neat feature that reminds me of a good submarine hunt. The main drawback it that you must connect to Xbox Live in order to get any further than the opening screen. This meant I couldn't even test out the controller until I logged in. I had hoped to be able to tool around and get used to the controller. Like most things, I've done this backwards. I bought ...

  • Steel Battalion and LOC: A unique gaming experience

This is the latest--well, relatively--installment of what just has to be one of the most incredible video games ever produced. It's pricey, it has a huge dedicated controller that you really need a place to store--unless you're so addicted you might as well just keep it out--but it's also one of those hallmark games with a coolness factor that can't be beat. Since it's an older game released for the original Xbox, the graphics are a bit dated compared to those of most games for the Xbox360 (and PS3), but there really isn't anything comparable on the market in terms of total immersion gameplay. Perhaps that's why these games (Steel Battalion and Line of Contact) are still commanding top dollar, despite their age. You'll need the original Steel Battalion dedicated controller set to play ...

Almost the single best LAN giant robot simulator on the market. It would be the best if it included two copies for LAN play... and a second Xbox... and a second 40 button controller... and a friend to play against...
