About this product

Product Information

Obviously patterned after Race, Indy 4 and Sprint 2, all of which hit the arcades in 1976, Indy 500 is one of the better of the nine Atari VCS launch titles. Viewed from an overhead perspective, the game features 14 variations composed of four types of races: Race Car, Crash n' Score, Tag and Ice Race. Depending on mode selected, players race on an assortment of tracks, attempt to crash into a white square as many times as possible, or purposely run into or avoid the opponent's car. The game includes (and requires) special paddle driving controllers, which are precise and can be rotated continuously in either direction. Characterized by sharp twists and turns, highly competitive two-player action and simple, but effective graphics and sound effects, Indy 500 belongs in every VCS owner's collection.

I have received quality knives in a paper envelope which was torn in shipping. This won’t happen with this seller. When received it was smaller than listed.     Classic Atari Racing Game

    While Mario Kart dominates the current racing scene as it relates to video games it owes its heritage to this incredibly simple and fun game. Indy 500 was one of the original nine games released in 1977 by Atari and was the only official release to ever use the Driving Paddles. Multiple tracks and varying surface conditions for racing really made this a marvel at the time. Plus, it remains one the THE best two-player games on the Atari 2600. The misconception about the games for the 2600 is that because they are simple and graphically challenged that they are not fun. The opposite is true. Due to the limited graphics it was the actual gameplay that had depth. Don't get me wrong, there are lots of stinkers out there for the 2600, but the reward is finding the ones that are true gems.....and ...

    Atari review rare vintage gaming

    I like the vintage game Atari collectable. I love that I can find rare vintage gaming collectables here on e-bay. What I dislike would be the fear of the unknown when sending money to someone before the item arrives. I believe that people in general would post more pictures if it was cheaper, that way less buyers would not be dissapointed if they had a better idea of the product. I decided to buy this product because I could not find it anywhere else and its a collectable I'm interested in.

    Fun Fun Fun

    Wow , talk about a great Atari game from the past. I still own this and every once in a while we haul out the old 2600 and start playing. i think it is funny how back in the day i could play these games for hours upon hours but now they get boring in about 10 minutes.
