The compact, 2.5-inch form factor only weighs 3.77 ounces, and it’s the perfect size drive to deliver top performance, without weighing down your laptop. Add the 5,400RPM hard drive as a replacement for a slower, smaller one or use it for backup storage, instead of dragging around a clunky, external HDD or SSD with your notebook. With a 1TB storage capacity, you can store up to 17,000 hours of music, 1,000 hours of videos, 310,000 digital photos, and 500 hours of HD quality movies, on this Samsung Spinpoint HN-M101MBB hard drive. It uses an advanced 4K sector and breaks the storage into four sections for better performance than earlier models. A fast drive offers less lag, and provides you with search results in seconds with the 5,400RPM spindle speed. The Samsung Spinpoint hard drive has a 5.6ms average latency and an average seek time of 12ms. Along with the 5,400RPM spindle speed, this hard drive comes with an 8MB cache buffer to temporarily store different types of files to improve performance. It also uses a SilentSeek and NoiseGuard feature that allows the drive to run a quiet system check, which won’t cause a distraction while you work. Before opening your laptop and disconnecting the original drive, backup all important files to an external device for safe keeping. A simple bump to the disk can cause permanent damage to the data. After opening the computer, connect the Samsung Spinpoint HN-M101MBB HDD to the device’s motherboard using the 6Gb/s SATA interface for fast data transfers. The Serial ATA or SATA cable is the standard connection for many hard disks, and they resemble a thinner, more flexible USB. An SATA interface is a less expensive cable than the serial-attached SCSI, which is used by enterprise devices that handle large-scale storage. This Samsung Spinpoint M8 mobile computing series offers a 1TB HDD, as well as a 750GB, a 500GB and 320GB models. This versatile drive is compatible with various operating systems and other vital hardware components from an array of manufacturers.
