Synopsis
Becky Bloomwood has a fabulous flat in London's trendiest neighborhood, a troupe of glamorous socialite friends, and a closet brimming with the season's must-haves. The only trouble is, she can't actually afford it--not any of it. Her job writing at Successful Saving magazine not only bores her to tears, it doesn't pay much at all. And lately Becky's been chased by dismal letters from the bank--letters with large red sums she can't bear to read. She tries cutting back. But none of her efforts succeeds. Her only consolation is to buy herself something . . . just a little something. Finally a story arises that Becky actually cares about, and her front-page article catalyzes a chain of events that will transform her life--and the lives of those around her--forever. Good book but wrong cover

I love this book. A few years ago I lent my copy to someone who never returned it and I know I'll never get it back. I wanted the exact specific cover that I used to have that matches the rest of the series that I own. I thought I did my homework but the book that shipped wasn't the cover in the picture nor the one I thought I was getting based on the details provided. I'm so so disappointed but I'll keep the book and just suck it up because I do love the story. If you are wondering about the book and not just the cover art definitely purchase. It's fun and funny and a sweet read.

  • The first is the best.

This is the best series to read in the right order. I also suggest the tapes for the first read. That way you get the cute british voice in your head for when you read later. This is the first book. I suggest you read it and listen to the audio tape. It sets the tone for the rest. You get a visual and voice to place for the rest. This is like a TV show. Becky is this fun and quirky girl that has everything and anything go wrong in life. She also loves to shop and spend more than she has. She likes the best. Her life is so fun to step into. You have been missing out, get started and start enjoying this fantastic brilliant series. I cannot say enough about this amazing author and series. I am in love. I had not been reading for years. Now thanks to Sophie I am a book worm. A book takes ...

  • Confessions of a Shopaholic

I purchased this book because I had recently read another book (Remember Me) by the same author, Sophie Kinsella. This is humorous and light reading, with a touch of romance. Confessions of a Shopaholic is the First of a series of books, including Shopaholic Takes Manhattan, Shopaholic Ties the Knot, Shopaholic and Baby, Shopaholic and Sister. The main Character, Rebecca Bloomwood is a 25-year-old Shopaholic who lives in London. Being somewhat of a shopaholic myself, I loves her descriptions of how she feels when she she sees the Sale sign and the detailed descriptions of the shopping expeditions especially using details about the brands and items she buys, and how she throws the Visa bills in the trash. I really enjoyed how she managaed to get herself out of each difficult situation. I ...

  • A REAL HOOT! Great Reading Between eBay Auction Bids.

Sophie Kinsella's novel, "Confessions of a Shopaholic," is a hoot and- having known one or two people like this, myself- all too realistic. If you've ever paid off one credit card with another, thrown out a bill before opening it, had clothes hanging in your closet or piled in your dresser that you've never worn, or convinced yourself that buying a cart-full of buy-one-get-one free items is like making money, then this caricature novel is for you. Rebecca Bloomwood, the protagonist, is a recent college graduate who is offered a line of credit by a London bank. Within a few months, she has exceeded the credit limits, and begins stealthily scanning her credit card bills at work, before ceasing to open the bills at all. As a writer for the finance magazine, "Successful Saving," the world ...

  • LOVE THESE BOOKS!

I am totally hooked on the Shopaholic books! Such a fun read! I have read the first three and am working on the fourth. The author is a wonderful writer and includes a lot of humor. I think most ladies will be able to relate to the main character, Becky Bloomwood, at least on some level. Interesting to see how she gets herself out of her little messes. WARNING - addictive! I can't put them down!
