Synopsis
A three-step program that puts headache sufferers back in control of their lives. "A must read for all individuals with migraine!"--Ronald J. Tusa, M.D., PH.D., Professor of Neurology and Otolaryngology, Dizziness and Balance Center, Emory University Based on the breakthrough understanding that virtually all headaches are forms of migraine--because migraine is not a specific type of headache, but the built-in mechanism that causes headaches of all kinds, along with neck stiffness, sinus congestion, dizziness, and other problems--Dr. Buchholz's Heal Your Headache offers a simple, transforming program. Step 1: Avoid the "Quick Fix." Too often painkillers only make matters worse because of the crippling complication known as rebound. Step 2 : Reduce your triggers. The crux of the program: a migraine diet that eliminate the foods that push headache sufferers over the top. Step 3: Raise your threshold. When diet and other lifestyle changes aren't enough, preventive medication can help stay the course. That's it. In three steps, you can turn your headache problems around. Includes answers to questions like: What is a migraine anyway? Why do I get more headaches than most people? Of all the potential dietary triggers, what are the major culprits? Will my headaches get better when I get older? Why does the weather give me headaches? How long will it take me to get over rebound when I stop taking my Excedrin? Are my children doomed to suffer from headaches? Why do I wake up every morning with a headache? This title was updated in November 2021 to reflect the latest medical advice., Based on the breakthrough understanding that virtually all headaches are forms of migraine--because migraine is not a specific type of headache, but the built-in mechanism that causes headaches of all kinds, along with neck stiffness, sinus congestion, dizziness, and other problems--Dr. Buchholz's Heal Your Headache puts headache sufferers back in control of their lives with a simple, transforming program: Step 1: Avoid the "Quick Fix." This book saved my life

After 7 and a half years of intractable chronic daily migraine (24/7/365 migraine unresponsive to treatments), I read this book, followed the plan and I now experience migraine episodes. 3 years later, I still follow and swear by it and buy the book for friends/family in need of other idea's.

  • Heal Your Headache

I was desperate. I'd had a headache for months and could not get rid of it. I had talked to people about changing my diet, but didn't know how to do it. I went to the library and found this book and read it. I identified with 90% of the cases in that book -- memory loss, misdiagnosis, etc. I started following the diet. It took a while, but I was able to get my headaches under control. I took the book to my doctor and he actually knew the author. When asked why he didn't give the diet to me he said that people complained it was too restrictive. My reaction -- do they want to get well, or not? My headaches are now controlled by medication, chiropractic care, and following a diet -- the diet from this book. I also discovered that half of the things on the list of foods to avoid are ...

  • Good Read

I do think the book has really good advice and help. I have been using the book now for about 7 weeks. It has improved somethings about my headaches. I'm glad I read it and would definitely buy it again. I wish the book expounded a bit more on hormone and a few more dietary concerns. As of now, I am taking his advice and seeing where it goes from there. I recommend the read.

  • Heal Dizzyness too

This book was a recommended read by my doctor. I have been fighting dizzy spells for over ten years now. I have seen just about every specialist in the book from ENTs to Neurologists without any resolve. I have been told to change my diet(to what I wasn't told), take many prescriptions, and believe it or not "Maybe it's all in your head." After a few years of constant disappointment with no remedy in sight, I gave in to the belief that maybe I was crazy and it was just in my head. Just this year I began seeing a specialist for something else and made mention of these dizzy spells that I have been living with for years. He ran some tests, asked a few questions, and then told me that thought I suffered from migraine headaches even though I din't have the normal pain associated with ...
