    Excellent professional lavalier

    This has a wider frequency response than the Sony ECM-44, which is somewhat cheaper, and the noise floor is also slightly lower. For me the extra $$ is worth it - the ECM-77B delivers a very natural vocal quality with a slight lift around 5kHz to increase intelligibility and clarity. I have had two of these, both solid performers and reliable. Never tried ether the Trams or DPA, which I have no doubt are excellent performers with their own "sound", but you tend to stick with what you know that works well; and you also learn and understand how to work with what you have. I would definitely recommend the ECM77B to anyone starting out in serious sound recording.

    Sony ECM-77B Professional Microphone -- Can't Go Wrong

    I needed a few hardwired lavaliere microphones for my business. I started with one Sony ECM-77 and absolutely loved it! Not only is it one of the smallest of it's kind, the natuarl sound quality that is unmistakably Sony really shines through. I saw two more on eBay and systematically bought them. In all I paid $75, $102.50, and $150 respectively. Let's do the math here; I bought three Sony mics at a total of $327.50. The lowest price for one is $259 on the low side and $395 on the upper end! eBay has the greatest deals bar none! Great mics at great deals!

    It works. Isn't that what we want?

    This is kind of the standard location lapel mice. Not much to say except it works great! Of note, I also have a Sony ECM-NV1 short shotgun for a camera mic and I use for a boom in studio and both mics have very similar sonic qualities... they are easy to cut between.
