    Life after Death - As Silly as Life

    I performed a monologue from "Blithe Spirit" to audition for my school's drama club in 1960. I had, at 16, just read the play, and was blithely amused by it. I still am, and the movie is a good reminder of my youth. That aside, the dialogue is replete with silly lines, clever, light, but silly. In fact the whole plot is absurd. But absurdity the Coward way is one of the reasons people go to the theater or cinema - to escape reality. But in "Blithe Spirit" the author brings you from life to an after-life in which ghosts retain the emotions of jealousy and hatred in the same manner of the living. It gives one yet another reason to go on living - or to be less - or more afraid of dying. The movie is played well, with Rex Harrison and his lilting voice, a standout. If you're not too ...

    Sexy Spooky and Green

    The best classic movie ever! Elvira's spirit is ghostly green in this early special effect movie. Comdey, infidelity, communication with the great beyond, and a memorable song that will be stuck in your head while you sing in the shower for a week. My favorite movie! I named our duaghter Blythe!
