    excellent piece of equipment as designed

    The product as designed is an excellent microcentrifuge. The seller failed to disclose that the control knobs for time and speed have worn reostats that need to be replaced. As sold (not as designed) setting the time and speed of centrifugation is difficult because the values jump around.

    Poor reliability make this a poor value

    I have purchased two of these units new directly from Beckman Coulter. Both units failed within 10 years of light use (average of 2 hours/month). One had a door latch that fails to engage. The other had timing and speed rheostat failures and a door latch that failed to disengage. Competing Eppendorf units are much more durable.
