Product Information

In Nazi-occupied Poland at the height of World War II, impoverished cafe owner Jakob (Williams) keeps hope and humor alive in the Jewish ghetto by reporting fictitious news bulletins about the Allied forces' advances against the Nazis to his fellow prisoners. Meanwhile, the Germans learn of the mythical radio and begin a search for the resistance hero who dares operate it. A remake of the 1974 German film, JAKOB, DER LUGNER.

    Jakob the Liar

    This is one of Robin William's serious roles and he does an excellent job. This is a grim film with a somewhat surprise ending. The premise of the film is that Robin is in a Jewish ghetto during the war and to keep the spirits up of the others in the ghetto he invents stories that he says come from a radio he has (which are not allowed). When the Nazi arrest him and tell him that the ghetto residents will be shot if he doesn't turn in the radio the whole scenario becomes problematic.

    jakob the liar

    robin williams is a great actor and a billiant mind. it takes place during the war. its not a movie chilren would enjoy, a very serious movie. i buy all of his movies.
