    A true must watch.

This is the German Version but the film itself is in English. Because the formatting is different on the German Disk it will not play on all US players. As a lover of the Blues and someone who wanted to know more about the History of the Blues it was worth it to me to find a player that works. The Documentary itself is filled with fantastic music, great concepts and is hugely entertaining. A must see for anyone who loves the Blues, plays the blues or even someone who just loves Rock and Roll and wants to know more about it's origin. It is also a great series for anyone studying Black History. It gives a unique insight into how African Americans made it through slavery and the types of things they did to cope with what they endured Really this is a must see for any American and would be ...

  • Great fun! Lots of history.

Great fun for blues fans, or those who just want to know more. Seven films by seven different directors. Due to the scarcity of vintage images and moving pictures, the same sequence appears in multiple films. This, it turns out, amplifies the history rather than damping enthusiasm. I am glad I bought it.

  • A great entree into the Blues

I watched this a few years back on PBS. It is really well produced and covers some basic themes of the Blues. Long story short, this series is virtually impossible to find to legally stream. Being a legal guy I decided to pick up the disc and my HDR Blu Ray player uncoverts it nicely. Recommend.

  • Entertaining for blues music fans

I saw this PBS documentary on TV in 2003 and enjoyed it. It contains a variety off seven different shows which were very interesting for blues music fans. It also had a lot of old rare music performances.
