  • iTune's MP3s expensive; eBay's CDs cheap and good.

It was always a favorite Beck album of mine, but it some how was deleted from my iPhone. When I looked to repurchase it from iTunes, it was too expensive and not worth buying the MP3 from Apple. I took a look at eBay and found a CD version of the album that was more than half the price of the MP3 version from iTunes. I have since done this for other music I like or have lost.

  • Essential Beck

An album at Beck's earlier point in his career, it's certainly on of his better efforts. It's also a historically important album, especially if you like Beck's lo-fi/folk/country style. It's not necessarily 'Beck for Beginners', especially if one is used to his more recent material. However, if you are a Beck completist, or have accquired a taste for his early material, this is a must-have. The biggest downside to this album is that it has been out of print for some time now, and nice copies are getting hard to find. Happy hunting.

  • i wish he would do more like this

from begining to end this is a great album. there aren't any hip hop or dance tunes in this one, just real simple folk, blues, country songs with Beck's unique take. If you havent heard any of the song's off of this, you could compare it to sea change, but with more humor and less dramatic. Same style and consitancy though wich is what makes it such a great album. Highly recommend. I believe it was recorded with an independent label, and it definatly has an indie sound. Not as well polished as mellow gold, but that is also what makes it a good album, much more intimate.

  • Not Beck's Best

There is certainly a limited amount of mystery behind this 1994 album's out-of-production status. Although it sounds similar to its predecessor Mellow Gold, One Foot in the Grave doesn't provide the energy with which Beck has made his music so memorable and enjoyable. It replaces the superior folk/blues/hip hop/rock fusion of Beck's debut album with a more simple, Southern-sounding folk collection. Fan's of the artist's more recent albums may not fully enjoy this one. Although it is a good group of songs, this one should be kept on reserve for only the most sincere of Beck fans.

  • Beck One Foot in the Grave

Aucoustic guitar, simple song writing with backing vocals. Harmonies that remind you how good early Beck recordings were. Some songs remind you of a Hobo singing next to a campfire by the railroad tracks. Most of the songs are only a couple minutes long, and some sound unfinished but all in all a good album. Beck is a great songwriter and most of his lyrics are from space or the junkyard. The sound quality is like someones basement but it fits for this album.
