Widows Late in the 3rd
I watched this several times out of Redbox but I failed to get through the climax. Once I bought it, I flowed through it top to bottom. It allowed me to see everything that I missed late in the 3rd act (or acts 7 and 8 if you study the Million Dollar Method by Chris Soth). This isn't Viola's most dynamic role but it shows elements of how I view her. Excellent at showing emotion in a variety of ways. I always wonder what experiences inside of her that allow her to cry as she does. She's also really good as being vindictive where necessary. She's up there with some of the best chameleons in film. I do feel that some of the dialogue seems less fluid for her in some cases here. One moment in particular has her telling her colleague about doing her job and allowing her to handle her ... Their intentions keep it interesting because it forces me to wonder why they make the choices that they make. In my opinion, this is a different style of film for McQueen. This is closer to what I would call a Hollywood style film for him. Others like Shame or 12 Years... are even darker in subject matter and theme. I like how he handled one of the twists and the flashes. The flashes keep me on my toes and force me to reach deeper into what's being presented. Interested in hearing your POV. #legacy
