Can't Wait for the Live Version
Charlotte's Web is a very good movie for the young and young at heart. For those who haven't seen it, it follows the life of a young girl, Fern, who sees her father about to do away with a runt pig. Feeling sorry for him, she takes him in and raises him as a pet. After he grows too big for the house Wilber the pig is taken to Fern's uncle's farm. Learning he will eventually be made into bacon Wilber befriends Charlotte the spider who ends up saving his life. Yes, this is the story of the writing in the web, coming of age, and friendship. With memorable characters like Templeton the rat, the baby sheep, goose and goslings and Charlotte's three children Joy, Arania, and Nelly, this movie is a memorable one. Now that the live version is coming out (starring Dakota Fanning) hopefully more ... Charlotte's Web is a very good movie for the young and young at heart. When I was younger, I used to watch this version of Charlotte's Web (1973) on VHS when I was sick or sad. I hadn't thought to look for this on DVD until the first time I got sick as an adult on my own, and had to take care of myself, and realized that I needed my trusted movie to turn to. I was really happy to find this here on Ebay. The dvd was previously used, which was okay with me, and was cheap, arrived very quickly, and is of wonderful quality. It's a wonderful film for kids, adults, or families together. The reason I liked it so much as a young girl was because I apparently said there were no bad guys in it. It is also filled with beautiful music which all will enjoy. I definitely recommend this movie to anyone considering it, for people looking for a wholesome movie, or for a ... That's Some Pig!
I decided to buy this dvd because I loved it as a child and also the new Charlotte's Web is coming out and I wanted my 3 year old son to watch this older version to see if he would enjoy it before I take him to see the new one. He loved it, especially Wilbur and the other farm animals. There's just something about talking animals that entertains and amuses kids. Things that are good about this older version is that it is timeless, even watching it now, I wouldn't think it was made over 30 years ago. The music is great and catchy. After viewing it, my son kept singing "Chin up, Chin up" throughout the day.
