      Me me incense maker: Best mortar and pestle I owned

      I make my own incense from raw ingredients, always grinding occasionally tough materials like Yemeni myrrh. For me this solid, well build, beautiful, fundamental tool is essential as it makes my work much easier. With my previous porcelain mortar+pestle, I had to apply a lot of extra strength and occasionally hurt my fingers against the edges of the bowl. Not with this tool: it feels like this heavy, perfectly shaped pestle against this perfectly shaped bowl is doing the job for me like by itself. Rough finish completely eliminates flying debris problem. And it perfectly fits my countertop granit of the same color and similar texture. Very happy with this.

      The mortar and pestle I've been loooking for my whole life.

      I've had a lot of different mortar and pestles over the years. They all didn't work out. Too light. Too small. Too big. Whatever I muddled or ground seemed to fuse to them and everything always tasted like myrrh forever after. Not this one! It's thick and heavy enough to stand on it's own while I work. A quick rinse and a little scrub and it's good as new. Highly recommend it.

      Great kitchen tool but a bit heavy

      I've used this only for crushing garlic, but it's terrific. The only two reservations I have is that (1 it's heavy to pick up while you're trying to empty the crushed stuff into a bowl or onto a plate, and (2 you have to wash and scrub the inside afterwards because stuff gets stuck around the little "pebbles" forming the mortar. Of course it has to be heavy; that's the point of a mortar.

      size matters

      This mortar & pestle will probably meet all your expectations ,size weight Etc All. are excellent. Makes pulverizing or just crushing a snap ,no chasing the intended product around. PS They recommend out of the box use soap and water to clean "NO" Use course salt with baking soda, and using the pestle give the mortar a workout top to bottom than rinse with hot water Presto,and never consider using any type of soap.
