    The Focusrite Saffire PRO 40 digital recording interface offers you multilayer recording capabilities. In the process, this device gives you the ability to capture a clean and transparent sound with very little noise or distortion. Additionally, it helps you effectively produce audio sound using any compatible Macintosh or Windows audio workstation. Moreover, you can set eight different mic preamp levels for quality sound even at high gain. Two of the mic, line, or instrument inputs are installed on the front panel of the Saffire PRO 40, which also includes two independent headphone monitor outputs. This ADAT system provides you with a total of 20 inputs and 20 outputs and a unique loopback function. The microphone dynamic range is about 109dB, and the line level outputs are about 108dB.

        Only difficulty is Driver... Windows 10 can be problematic.

        The only problem I have been struggling with Saffire drivers is that it does not share between applications all that well. I have Windows 10. If I open a Browser, I can hear audio from the device fine. If I then open a DAW, whatever it is (Cubase or LIve oo Reason) Suddenly the Audio from the browser disappears... Sound is only produced from the DAW. You have to disable then re-enable Audio device to get it back. audio playing from the browser.. This did not use to be an issue, but I believe Windows 10's audio Interface is the source of the problem. You can set the Windows settings for the device to Not allow a single application to take exclusive control of the driver, but unfortunately this does not solve the problem. It doesn't make it non-usable.. its just an annoying ...

        Saffire Pro 40

        Device will not connect to my any of my five computer's PC's and Mac. It is recognized by the operating systems but focusrite'$ software will not unlock the device for use. in a desperate attempt to get it working I have tried different operating systems and drivers. My old Scarlett usb M-Audio and Steinberg firewire interfaces connect and work perfectly with little effort. Focusrite tech support has tried to help. Little progress if any. Wasted my money and a hopeless dream.

        A Great Thunderbolt DAW Interface at Half the Price

        Eight clean preamps, excellent A/D conversion, Firewire interface,ten ADAT channels, 2 S/PDIF channels and sixteen channel MIDI. The Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 is an awesome interface! It is Pro Tools 12 compatible and can be used with a Thunderbolt adapter.

        Overall seems to do the job!

        Unit seems solid enough overall. The pre-amps are clean and quiet just like the Motu 8Pre. Be careful of the 2 front inputs when plugging in a 1/4 cable jack. I can see input jack becoming a problem if there is any tension or accidental pulling of the cable when in use. Seems the mounting of the 2 front inputs are not secure and when I plug in a instrument cable there is too much play in the jack.

        After 20 years of recording I've found the Holy Grail!

        Over the last few decades I've gone through a number of recording interfaces, and have always been left wishing each was just a little better. The Saffire Pro 40 is AMAZING. The sound is crisp, and it works with any DAW I can throw at it. There is a bit of a learning curve, but after a few weeks of playing with this interface I found the most perfect recording experience of my life. 8 tracks simultaneously, and superior quality. Coupled with the Octopre preamp I can record a whole band in one take. You won't find a better recording interface for less than twice the price.
