Ibanez guitar
The Ibanez Jem Jr,for the money played much better than expected. I have a Stratocaster American deluxe and it is a great playing instrument. The Ibanez is very close to it. I find myself playing the Ibanez more, the sounds I can get with the whammy bar are amazing. Also having 24 playable frets just tops it off. Playing major scales mixed with pentatonic scales up and down the neck just opens up a whole new world for me in music. In the future, I may upgrade to some awesome pickups, just to see how much better it will play. I love this guitar and I can see myself bonding with it over the years to come. A Vai signature guitar at a great price!
I have a couple other Ibanez guitars and gravitae toward their design features, feel, tone and playability. Being an "open-box" item, it needed some setup work when it arrived to achieve its inherent qualities. I took the time to do a complete workup on the guitar so it was at its best. This included tensioning the neck rod, fret leveling to eliminate any fret buzz, setting intonation correctly for my preferred string gage, and balance/height adjusting of the "Edge" Ibanez tremolo tailpiece. The result was amazingly low action and ease of play. The pickups on the guitar are really good sounding even if not a "name" brand. Overall and in details, this is a great guitar.
