    Good Gain and Clarity.

I have both the Nobsound and the Little Bear version. The difference is only the case where the Little Bear is enclosed in Smoked Clear PVC or plastic and the Nobsound that "cost more" is in an Aluminum enclosure. Otherwise they are the same in functionality. Good clarity and gain increase from a Control4 Music Bridge, to a Cambridge Audio DacMagic, the XLR to a Nobsound / Little Bear, then RCA to your Amp. You will hear the artist mistake during mastering the recording. Note: If you have a warm sounding amp, you might loose dynamic-range, like my Cyrus One 1st gen amp; it rather be left alone since it already sound good. No problem with my Sansui and Bose Wave Radio.

  • Works greate, crooked lettering on faceplate.

Would have paid a little more for the metal version if it was available locally. The smoke clear plastic would be subject to scratches and decay. Four stars is not for being plastic its because the printed lettering is crooked. It works as intended no noticed change in sound quality at any level just a reduction in gain. Its used to reduce a separate amplifier's power when watching movies so the surround amplifier can keep up.

  • Perfect for any application

I was skeptical at first since there is no internal shielding, but the preamp works perfectly. I use this in a permanent application as a governor between the board and 8 powered Mackie speakers, four SRS1500 subs and four 450’s. (XLR Cords) I was expecting to hear a hum or some kind of interference noise when I first turned it on, but was pleasantly surprised to hear nothing.(speakers on half volume) Just out of curiosity, I tried this preamp between the board and a microphone, same thing, no noise! Definitely worth $40.

  • Just what I needed.

This unit does just what it's supposed to. It lets you decrease the line level from any preamp out to power amp in without adding any gain. It's perfect for trimming a hot preamp signal to a lower level and keeping the circuit as clean as possible. The best example I can give as if you have a CD player you can tie it directly to a power amp and use this as the attenuator. You'll have the cleanest signal possible to drive your CD player into your speakers. In the world is HiFi - less is better...

  • Better than expected

Does what it should and the mechanism feels good, looks good. Only gripe is that and very low volumes the channels are not even, with the left channel dominant, so some signal loss there in the volume pot.
