About this product

Product Information

Seed to Seed is a complete seed-saving guide that describes specific techniques for saving the seeds of 160 different vegetables. This book contains detailed information about each vegetable, including its botanical classification, flower structure and means of pollination, required population size, isolation distance, techniques for caging or hand-pollination, and also the proper methods for harvesting, drying, cleaning, and storing the seeds. Seed to Seed is widely acknowledged as the best guide available for home gardeners to learn effective ways to produce and store seeds on a small scale. The author has grown seed crops of every vegetable featured in the book, and has thoroughly researched and tested all of the techniques she recommends for the home garden. This newly updated and greatly expanded Second Edition includes additional information about how to start each vegetable from seed, which has turned the book into a complete growing guide. Local knowledge about seed starting techniques for each vegetable has been shared by expert gardeners from seven regions of the United States-Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast/Gulf Coast, Midwest, Southwest, Central West Coast, and Northwest.

The Book of all Books for Seed Saving

If you have any interest in saving seeds, this book is a must have for your library. I've been saving my own seeds for more than a decade. I'm a master gardener and have been teaching for years however I did learn some new info with this book. I purchased it to keep in my personal library for quick and easy reference. I'm a fan of writing inside of my own books (notes in margins) so owning a book is key. If the internet is down then I'm fully prepared! Buy this book if you want more info on seed saving, proper techniques, storage tc.

  • A must have for anyone saving seeds!

The content of the book is exactly what I needed. The information is clear and detailed. The quality of the book cover was kind of disappointing. After opening the book for the first time it creased near the spine on the front of the book and white began to show through. I covered it with contact paper to preserve it and it resolved that issue. I would still buy it again and definetely recommend it!

  • Amazing Book

There is so much information in this book. I have read it cover to cover and learned so much. I was concerned it would be a little intimidating with too much information to digest. But, this book covers all the details and is explained is easy to read and understand. I feel ready to save seeds for all the varieties I grow.

  • Incredible, Edible Seeds

Incredible ... edible seeds! Most of us even considering this book are interested in growing our own food. It sounds simple to just buy seeds but this book will help you to understand there is a bigger picture right under your feet - it's the soil, not dirt. Seeds grown time and time again in the same area build up a sort of passive immunity to the stuff that lives in our soil. Buying seeds from wherever means those seeds have passive immunity to where ever they were grown for generations. This book will teach you how to harvest your own seeds so that you too may plant the same seeds / plants time after time and reap that benefit. Micro-organisms in the soil are no joke. The healthier the sub soil, the better the plants, the better the fruit and veggies. Seeds are like heritage, great ...
