About this product

Product Information

Now a Netflix film starring Lily James and Kristin Scott Thomas "Last Night I Dreamt I went to Manderley Again..." With these words, the reader is ushered into an isolated gray stone mansion on the windswept Cornish coast, as the second Mrs. Maxim de Winter recalls the chilling events that transpired as she began her new life as the young bride of a husband she barely knew. For in every corner of every room were phantoms of a time dead but not forgotten--a past devotedly preserved by the sinister housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers: a suite immaculate and untouched, clothing laid out and ready to be worn, but not by any of the great house's current occupants. With an eerie presentiment of evil tightening her heart, the second Mrs. de Winter walked in the shadow of her mysterious predecessor, determined to uncover the darkest secrets and shattering truths about Maxim's first wife--the late and hauntingly beautiful Rebecca. This special edition of Rebecca includes excerpts from Daphne du Maurier's The Rebecca Notebook and Other Memories, an essay on the real Manderley, du Maurier's original epilogue to the book, and more. Arrived quickly. Very reasonably priced. This particular version had really small print, so do read the descriptions. Nonetheless, this is a great seller.

  • Top favourable review

Superb writing, fantastic character development and a great mystery.

This, in my opinion, might well be the best written novel in the English language. The richness of the setting descriptions and the character development are superb and of course for those who haven't read it, there are major plot twists. It is such a good book that Alfred Hitchcock made it into an Oscar winning movie that took best picture in the 1940s and the BBC made a movie of it as well. If I were stranded on an island with only three books, this would be one of them.

  • Wonderful Book and Great Seller

What is not to like about this wonderful novel. While reading this you will feel like you are apart of a movie coming to life. It is filled with supsene and drama, but your soul is moved by the authors ability in recreating so many details. This book also brings me back to when I was a student in high school required to read it for the first time and now I love that I can return to this novel.

  • Disappointed

This book has writing on the pages and an old library sticker on it. I was going to give it as part of a Christmas gift but am unable to do so because it’s in such poor condition.

  • Great Book Club Book

Print is too small for me (paperback), but it is a great prequel to the classic. Read the for my Book Club.
