About this product

Product Information

See where the smash #1 New York Times bestselling Temperance Brennan "cleverly plotted and expertly maintained" ( The New York Times ) series all began with Deja Dead , the first installment from forensic anthropologist and internationally bestselling thriller writer Kathy Reichs. Her life is devoted to justice--for those she never even knew. In the year since Temperance Brennan left behind a shaky marriage in North Carolina, work has often preempted her weekend plans to explore Quebec. When a female corpse is discovered meticulously dismembered and stashed in trash bags, Temperance detects an alarming pattern--and she plunges into a harrowing search for a killer. But her investigation is about to place those closest to her--her best friend and her own daughter--in mortal danger...

Reviews
New Orleans Times-PicayuneWith fast action, a great lead character, impeccable writing, [and] a perfect setting....Deja Dead is a keeper., "What makes Déjà Dead so compelling, in addition to the authoritative descriptions of how a forensic scientist 'reads' the story the bones tell, is the character of Brennan -- smart, persistent, gutsy, ironic yet vulnerable." -- Judy Stoffman, Toronto Star, "What makesDéjà Deadso compelling, in addition to the authoritative descriptions of how a forensic scientist 'reads' the story the bones tell, is the character of Brennan -- smart, persistent, gutsy, ironic yet vulnerable." -- Judy Stoffman,Toronto Star, New York NewsdayGreat, suspensful fun....A fascinating inside look at the workings of a coroner's office....Temperance Brennan is the real thing. That's because her creator, Kathy Reichs, is the real thing., "Kathy Reichs knows how to put all [of her] exotic experience into a novel....Quebec's own Southern gal give[s] Cornwell a run for the money." -- Margaret Cannon, Globe and Mail

    Great book!

I finished this book in about a week. Can't wait to start Kathy's second book.

  • Fascinating read!

On the one hand Reichs paints with crisp prose and then switches gears into a mellow narrative that keeps your interest very high. So far I have not run into any parts of the book that seem to drag and as a result my reading enjoyment is greatly enhanced. On a technical/medical level I am getting a first rate overview of subjects seldom discussed or seen outside of a small segment of the medical community. I was drawn to Reichs' work because of the TV show "Bones". I love the show and the science is first rate. It is a pleasure to immerse myself in the BONES universe through the books and the program. I feel each aspect will enhance the other. As in any writings that form a series I would suggest you start with the first one and read them in sequence. I don't know if the Bones ...

  • Gruesome Murders

I normally read "cozy" type mysteries but once in a while when a book is recommended over and over that is out of my whimsical lady sleuth range, I decide I better find out what the fuss is about. I read this about a year after it came out. Temperance Brennan, a recovering alcoholic, fortyish, divorced, and an American forensic anthropologist from the South,is now working in French-speaking Montreal. In a deeply disturbing and fascinating story, she is called upon to do an autopsy on a young girl who has been gruesomely murdered. This death will bring her to the dark side of the city....one in which an insane serial killer is stalking its victims. Tempe(as she is known), has demons of her own she is dealing with but now she has to put them aside to find a real demon who seems to have ...

  • Kathy Reichs is amazing...

In her debut novel Kathy Reichs introduces us to Dr. Temperance Brennen. She captures you with her story-telling ability from the second you start reading, and if you're a fan of the TV show "Bones", make sure you read these books as well. The show ia fantastic and hilarious, but the books are in-depth and give you more than an hour once a week. There isn't a book she writes that I won't read, she's THAT good.

  • intrigue all the way

    well written, intriging plot
