Dick and Jane are alive and well and still teaching our kids to read.
There are so many reasons I purchased this book. Dick and Jane were the books I first learned to read from so they are very special for that reason alone. However, when one of my grand-children just wasn't getting the concept of reading that is being taught in schools now, I tried her on one of the Dick and Jane books I already had. It was just what she needed. She has now progressed through the earlier books and with this purchased has moved on to the more advanced books. Overall, the style of learning through repetition that these books use was more beneficial to her learning needs. These books contain short stories with colorful pictures depicting the words that are being read on that page. Words that are new to a child's vocabulary can then have a picture association that triggers ... There are so many reasons I purchased this book. I love these books. I started reading age 5 in 1st grade in school using the next level in the Dick and Jane books. So proud of myself! Gave the large condensed edition of these books to a struggling K4 student and after several weeks she was a different child, holding her head high and carrying her book everywhere.
