Pyne is considerate and even-handed in his approach to the debates surrounding the age of the earth and the origin of man. He brings dedication to the scriptures along with knowledge of the sciences, and presents all major views without dogmatism. He is interesting, witty, and informative. He includes discussion of the impact of theology on issues of the day, such as assisted suicide, abortion, and how sin affects our social structures. The half of the book on sin is more strictly scripture based, and less of a debate, but still interesting. This is one of the best books I have read this year for seminary.
