Very much helps to place my UV5R in a better viewing position - I just wish it would telescope a few inches higher. It would also be nice to have some sort of T-bar on which to clip the radio and have an extension out to the side on which to clip an external microphone, but I found a little T-bar that attaches to the adapter with self-sticking adhesive and it now works great!
