I bought the welded steel skid plate and was impressed with the sturdiness. This plate is for serious riders who plan on banging over rocks and trees, it looks very strong. The down side is that it is steel and heavy, but rides very low on the bike so I don't expect to feel any of that weight. I haven't installed mine yet, but i held it up to the old useless plastic one and it looks like it has the same holes. It comes with hardware and padding tape to protect the frame.ThanksM
