About this product

Product Information

Sierra Sports' Maximum Pool is a port of the PC title and the first pool game for the Dreamcast. It features realistic physics and a variety of different tables including: Snooker, Eight Ball, Carom, Nine Ball, Basic Pocket Billiards, Cutthroat, and Rotation. Pool tables created just for this game are Poker, Chameleon Ball, Rocket Ball, 24 Cents, and Mad Bomber. The player's perspective of the pool table can be changed, and small dotted lines are visible making it easier to gauge where each shot will end up. When not playing against a friend there are five video captured opponents to challenge who each have different skill levels and make comments based on gameplay situations.

Maximum Pool includes a variety of gaming options, including Quick Start, which allows you to begin a game with rules identical to the last time you played, as well as single and multiplayer modes. Maximum Pool supports 1-4 Players, and lets players connect for On-Line multiplayer action via the Modem in the Dreamcast. Online play is compatible with both PC and Macintosh users.

  • Fun game, playable online.

Definitely a solid game, but the real deal here is online play. This game is currently playable online using DreamPi. DreamPi also has a feature/service called Dreamcast Now to track who is online and what they are playing. Maximum Pool is a great game to play with real people. The simulation is good and holds up well today.

  • Pool on the venerable Dreamcast

Not a bad pool game for the Dreamcast. I don't know how many they made (probably not many, given the short lifespan of the console in the US), but this is a nice alternative to typical sports titles and racing games on the console. It looks great in VGA as well.

  • A great way to play all of the "other" billiards games

Lots of fun! I learned to play Snooker and Carom and some other neat games rather than the old 8 or 9 ball games. Other people talk this game down in their reviews but I enjoyed it...okay the elevator music isn't the best so turn it down and put on your ipod or a CD that you like to listen to! You can set the amount of strength that you want to hit the cue ball with, you can adjust your hit with more or less "english" and even shoot with a "masse"(curve ball). I really enjoy it. I recently had to sell my pool table to make room for another bedroom but I can still enjoy a game every now and then with Maximum Pool. It is not the same, I agree, but it is still a lot of fun.

  • Maximum pool

Great game but seems to be way to easy. Here is the deal. I suck at pool but I can sink every ball in a game of 9 ball in one shot on this game. i think there is something wrong with that.
