Um die Qualität der Bilder in einer dunklen Umgebung gewährleisten zu können, sind die ISO-Werte zwischen 100 und 1600 einstellbar. Mit Hilfe von diversen Aufnahmemodi und Stilelementen wird eine beeindruckende Foto- sowie Videoaufnahme gewährleistet. Zuverlässige Leistung und professionelle Bildqualität bietet die EOS-1Ds bei schwierigen Lichtverhältnissen mit der entfernungsgekoppelten E-TTL II Blitzsteuerung. Über den 2,0-Zoll LCD-Bildschirm mit 230.000 Bildpunkten können Bildschärfe und Bildkomposition im Nachhinein geprüft werden. Außerdem verfügt die Kamera über einen USB Anschluss um einen Datentransfer von Bildern zu ermöglichen.
