About this product

Product Information

A massive success upon its 1985 release, BACK TO THE FUTURE has since become a bona fide classic--Robert Zemeckis’s time-travel adventure has spawned sequels, theme park rides, and even a mention in Ronald Reagan’s 1986 State of the Union address. Michael J. Fox stars as Marty McFly, a restless '80s teen who takes a ride in Doc Brown’s (Christopher Lloyd) "flux capacitor"-rigged DeLorean and ends up in 1955. Once on the ground, Marty meets his teenaged mother (Lea Thompson) and accidentally wins her affections, thereby threatening the relationship she’s supposed to form with his father (the delightfully geeky Crispin Glover). Now it’s a do-or-never-be-born situation: Marty must get his parents to fall in love before Doc Brown can send him back to the proper decade. BACK TO THE FUTURE remains one of the rare family films that enjoyed both critical and box office success, and garnered a permanent spot in the pop-culture lexicon thanks to highly-quotable dialogue. The picture garnered both Golden Globe and Oscar nods (though it lost Best Original Screenplay to WITNESS), and continues to rank as one of the top-100 highest grossing films of all time.

  • 1985 Michael J. Fox Family Time-Traveling Classic

Unfortunately, after the mid-1970's, US films were judged by how well they did on their first couple of days at the theaters' box offices. It all films had been evaluated by a financial measure, as this one was (since it made $80 million in the US & $240 million internationally), most films wouldn't have ever reached the public's radar screen! Nevertheless, this film has become a family classic. The theme makes it so: it's an adventure into time-traveling. The story goes like this: Old Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) is a bumbling inventor of sorts. He's used a hot rod sports car De Lorean to make a contraption he calls the "flux capacitor." Teenager Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) goes for a ride in this rig and winds up traveling backwards in time from the 1980's to 1955. While back in ...

  • Back to the Future (VHS, 1995)

Very funny movie from the 1980's about a wacky scientist named Doc. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) who invents a time machine, and his young friend Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox). Doc Brown calls Marty and wants him to meet him at a shopping mall parking lot that night. When Marty gets there, he finds out that Doc has built the time machine in a DeLorean automobile. Doc explains that his invention, the Flux-Capacitor, is what makes time travel possible. He shows Marty how the time circuits and machinery work and wants Marty to video-tape his first journey which should only take a few minutes. This time machine works on Plutonium, which he stole from some Lybian terrorists who wanted him to build an atomic bomb for them. All of a sudden the Lybians show up and shoot Doc Brown. Marty barely ...
