Underwhelmed medical student
I like the series and thought I'd buy the book to sharpen me for my 4th year rotation (junior internship). Even as a 2005 printing, I found some of the information out of date, particularly the pharmacology section. I had expected memorable (and ridiculously simple) looks into personality disorders, but was disappointed to find no such thing. The book did explain some terms like transference and countertransference, but lacked that ridiculously simple touch on other terms like mood and affect. Many of the terms are listed out in glossary style, not in a cartoon "easily understandable and more memorable style." It did not meet my expectations.
