About this product

Product Information

Pretty but poor, Andie's (Molly Ringwald) a good student who develops a crush on Blane (Andrew McCarthy), the sensitive, well-born preppie. But Blane runs with a fast crowd of haughty rich kids, the kind of clique Andie and her new wavy best friend Duckie (Jon Cryer) can't stand. Going against her fretting father (Harry Dean Stanton), peer pressure and social expectations, she decides to date him. But their big plans for the senior prom ultimately fall apart when Blane heeds his friend Steff's (James Spader) warning to "quit slumming." Will Blane find the courage to claim what he really wants and give up the so-called friends he doesn't need? This classic 1980s teen film from the master of the genre, writer-producer John Hughes features plenty of great '80s pop tunes from the Psychedelic Furs, The Smiths, Echo and The Bunnymen, New Order, and more. The continued success of Hughes' films and actors ushered in the era of the "brat pack" and teen films as pop culture.

What an amazing seller!! When they noticed I love the press kit which was very carefully packed in several layers of bubble wrap (to prevent breakage of the DVD and creasing of the folder and notes during shipment) and then shipped securely in a sturdy box. The item is exactly as described - the press kit includes a folder, production notes and film credits. The seller is excellent! A++++++++!

I ordered a total of 22 dvds from this seller, so I'm only leaving feedback in one swoop, as it was sent in one combined package. My good feedback applies to all the items, so I don't have to repeat this 22 times. All items arrived in very good condition & packaged securely. Sent in a very timely manner. Service is excellent, & I highly recommend this seller! A+++++! Thank you!

  • One of the best 80s movies

What can I say - anything John Hughes touches turns to gold and this is no exception. One of my all time favorite 80s movies and my daughter loves it. It’s timeless. She even told me “Mom, the 80s had the best movies. They are so much better than today’s pre-teen movies. “

  • True reflection of the main character.

I loved the 80's so I am partial. My daughters feel the movie is a little dated but agree the points made are true to life. It's a common story but taking place during the wild times of the 80's. Poor girl meets rich boy. They fall in love but to the strong objections of their relative social groups. Taking place during senior year of high school there is a lot going on that reflects very comical as well as serious situations. Situations we all can relate to. Of course love wins out in the end. I love this movie, the moral to the story will always be valid; staying true to oneself.

  • John Hughes knows the 80's

Writer John Hughes has the 80's pegged. But this story could have been set in the 50's or 60's and still worked well. That is why I think this movie is so relevant. Devotion, friendship, and self worth are quizzed. The young actors were better than expected. I have watched this over a dozen times and I don't care if some people refer to this as a "chick flick". A young girl falls in love with a boy from the other side of the tracks. Problems occur when his peers think the object of his desires is socially beneath him. Molly Ringwald was very good. Andrew McCarthy and Jon Cryer seemed to feel their part more than the rest of the cast. But James Spader was such a realistic jerk, you want to get up and punch his face in. Harry Dean Stanton and Annie Potts play the adult roles of substance. ...
