  • Warhammer 40K Imperial Guard action

Most writers of Warhammer 40K military fiction model their units, whether Guard or Space Marine, on historical cultures. For Richard Williams, its the late nineteenth-century British Army. Stiff upper lips, class divisions, playing the game, the whole works only with the added 40K ingredients of psychopathic commissars and endless waves of feral orks. The result is a cracking good story, but don't get too attached to any of the characters.
