BEHRINGER VT999 VINTAGE TUBE MONSTER Classic Vacuum Tube Overdrive

Bought a used unit when it arrived the Bugera 12ax7 tube was shattered .No big deal I hear their sound leaves a lot to be desired anyways. Since then I've been experimenting with various tubes with different gain properties trying to see which I like best, All in all it's well made and is an asset to those with a less than desirable solid state amp that needs a little distortion for a pick me up.Yes I would recommend this ,and it's also reasonably priced,

  • If you have the room, this is an excellent guitar-driver-distortion!

I am very impressed with the tone out of this pedal. Behringer is mostly a name that gets pedal shoppers to tune out the rest of the sell, but this one actually has great tone right out of the box. It has a soft-to-hard saturation that is unique, a three band EQ and an on-board noise gate that is very effective. I've seen forums where players try to 'juke' the tone a bit by swapping the tube, but with a healthy 12AX7 it sounds excellent. This is one of the very few pedals that I had nothing to add or modify about the tone at all after giving it an hour on the board. It is easily a keeper, but I gave it 4-out-of-5 stars because it is ungodly huge (I do think that it could have been smaller) and will take up a lot of effects board footprint.

  • Versatile and Well-Priced with Good Sound

Honestly, the only complaint I have about this pedal is that instead of being constantly on or off, the light blinks, and that's just a personal quirk; it's not cause for a lost star. More importantly, the tone of the pedal is quite good. It preserves the natural warmness of tone already present in my Gretsch, and even adds a bit when tweaked. As well, the high, mid, and low controls are very effective in tweaking sound; each one makes a big difference, so definitely spend some time working with the levels. The range of gain is quite good. I can get a light overdrive from it all the way to a screaming distortion. I usually keep it between 10:00 and 11:00, and that allows me to play softly with a less noticeable drive, and play harder for a dirtier tone that stands out more. More ...

  • BEHRINGER VT999 Vintage Tube Monster Overdrive Distortion Guitar Pedal 12AX7

RIGHT ON! EXCELLENT PRICE. Excellent condition, New in box, No scratches, Owners manual. I would have paid more than I did had there not been an offer for a refurbished unit. I am very happy. It makes my amp sound tubed. I use it with a Caline Tantrum distortion pedal. I play through a Marshall BiChorus Valve state. It makes a big improvement for a amp that isn't tubed. I am very impressed with the sound I now have. I can click it off and use just the Tantrum and the sound isn't near as good. I really like what I hear.

  • Sounds like a tube because - well, it's a tube!

Behringer's low prices are largely thanks to some ingenious assembly techniques designed to be quick with no sacrifice in durability - don't let their low prices fool you. It's very decent gear with great specs. To save stage space I built my 999 into a Morley volume pedal. A little more gain would be nice, but I admit to using cheaper pickups that may not be very hot. For about $60, this is one of the best deals out there - true bypass too!
