    Entertaining!

I love this movie! The movie is engaging especially if you were alive in the 80s. Every song in this movie, everyone should know or at least have heard them before. The story line is an exaggeration of the 80s era hard rock or metal lifestyles. It's a musical but I can easily overlook that aspect of it because it is so well done. The toughest pill to swallow in this movie is Tomorrow Cruise as the quirky, eccentric rock star, but even with that, he did a great job. ( his character Also greatly exaggerated) This sounds like I'm slamming the movie but I'm not. I'm just giving my opinion and honesty. I actually love this movie a lot, but the 80s cliche's are in full swing, so be ready for that. With all of that being said, I highly recommend this to everyone. I give it five 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

It wasnt a MOVIE, there WEREN'T 5 minutes WITHOUT MUSIC!!...DONT get me wrong, I love this 80's ROCK, BUT NOT THESE"FAKE" ARTISTS SINGING THEM! I thought this was a VERY "CHEESY" SHOW. LOVE the CAST, JUST NOT THE MOVIE! (Sorry!)(I THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE GOOD, I remember when it come out, wanted to c it...NOT, WRONG.)

  • Rock of Ages (DVD, 2012)

Set in 1987, the general plot involves a pair of newcomers to Hollywood, trying to become rock stars, but finding the closest they can get is working in the hottest rock & roll club on the Hollywood Strip. From here, the story expands to include the owners of the club, a politician and his wife who are fighting the corrupting influence of rock music, and the biggest rock god on the planet, Stacee Jaxx, played by Tom Cruise. The movie starts out pretty cheesy, and the first few numbers garnered some giggles from the crowd, but when Tom Cruise arrives, he kicks the entire show into high gear. Say what you will about him off screen, the man is a star onscreen, and does a phenomenal job in this role. The music was pretty solid, with the rock songs of the 80s performed by the actors. ...

  • Loaded with funny bits, and you've got to love that music, Yeah.

The music works in this story. And you've got to give Cruise credit for pulling it off. He looks acts and feels the part. [Even though you can't really forget that the "real person" belonging to the face is in the middle of a divorce, splashing thru current news]. It had to be fun to make the movie, and while the story is light and sort of predictable, its loaded with funny bits by Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin and Catherine Z-Jones. A musical is hard to pull off these days, and surely this is good entertainment for those who grew-up with this genre music. I had my hands in the air. This one is sure to be a cult classic... some day. Cheers, Max Rainet A movie lover for life.

  • Great music, great fun, from an under-appreciated movie.

This movie has been highly underrated by the critics and audiences. As for the critical reviews, much attention was given to the acting abilities of Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta. I do not know if the film was misunderstood to be a drama, where acting takes center stage, but it is NOT. It is a musical. Music is center stage. I felt that the acting of both Hough and Boneta was very well done, and there were many scenes that were intentionally "tongue in cheek", and never meant to be taken seriously. I think the trailers didn't make it clear that this movie is a musical in the strictest sense of the word and that may have led to some disappointment by viewers. Also, the "hoopla" over Tom Cruise's role may have been overstated, as his role was not the ...
