    The hardcover book tells the story of Jacob, the son of an innkeeper in Bethlehem. The boy, as an apprentice woodworker, thinks hard about his next project. When he decides to make a manger for the stable behind the inn, it becomes a very appropriate gift for visiting strangers. Of course, the story fills in imaginary details surrounding the birth time of Jesus. The lessons taught about behavior and attitudes are appropriate for children. The main wisdom driving Jacob's decision is that when "we give a gift to one of God's children, it's like giving a gift to God." Jacob learns the lesson well, and his unselfish act is a great example to others. However, on the side of caution, if a parent prefers more Biblical truth in a story setting, one must remember that this this tale by Max Lucado ...
