    A gorgeous slipcase set for all "Far Side" lovers!

    This is a gorgeous set that all lovers of the "Far Side" comics should own. Just beware - it is HUGE and weighs in at about twenty pounds. It defines the word, 'tome'. Beautifully done,high quality materials and outstanding content make this an excellent and well worth the money purchase.

    Far Side is the best medicine

    Love the Far Side. Bought it as a gift for my husband's milestone birthday. We have a lot of inside jokes and language from our years reading the Far Side. (Grocery lists forever include "cat fud" and he's always saying "Faster, Fifi, Faster. (True fans know what I mean. ) Our 10 yr old son has been lugging these books to bed for his nighttime reading too. He gets the humor so that is fun. Really glad to have all of the great, cleverness of Gary Larson in one place but in retrospect would rather have bought all of the smaller books I could get my hands on. These are very heavy volumes. Difficult to hold on your lap and if you pick them up wrong, oops there's going to be a tear and who wants to rip the cartoon Bible.

    Beautiful books you will actually read.

    I am very impressed with these beautiful books. I did not expect the quality , beauty and size of these books. I love my ereaders for their convience but these books are wonderful to display and give me that reverand feeling for the printed word that I would get when I had a library of printed books. I downsized years ago and have few books left and these are a beautiful pair to have with my limited space. And of course they are great to read at the table,these are not small hold in your hands books.

    The Complete Far Side by Gary Larson (2003, Hardcover)

    If you loved the Far Side when it was in syndication, you are going to go crazy when you see this book! Every one of Gary's cartoons are featured, since 1980 when it all began. There are other notes in the books, some by Steve Martin, which only add to the value of this book. These books are massive, in a slip case and will last a lifetime. If you have any sense of humor, you will want to own these books!

    Heavy For a Reason!

    First of all, when someone wants to charge you a big shipping bill to mail "The Complete Far Side" by Gary Larson, don't be surprised. This set is HEAVY, but that's because nearly any cartoon you've ever seen, and plenty you haven't are printed here. Included are a few explanations for some of the more obscure cartoons from the editor who was Larson's eyes and ears to what was funny for the rest of us, as well as letters from those who didn't quite get it. While a few of the panels now need a historical context to make sense, others won't ever cease to make us laugh at ourselves, and the silly world we all live in. Well worth the dollars to any fan of the Far Side!
