Notes
2011 collection. Regardless of talent, quality, and financial backing, Mowest faced an uphill battle. With the majority of Motown's focus on the already established names of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, the Temptations, and their latest chart dynamos, the Jackson 5, there wasn't as much attention being given to the diverse Mowest roster. Acts like Syreeta, Sisters Love, and G.C. Cameron seemed to get lost in the shuffle. Though the label released over 40 singles and close to a dozen albums from up and comers like Odyssey to established veterans Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, the expected hits never materialized and the imprint quietly folded in 1973. While Mowest artists the Commodores, Thelma Houston, and the aforementioned Cameron continued on with Motown proper, the sub label's catalog quickly gathered dust in the cut-out bins of record stores throughout the States.

  • An Excellent MoWest Album!!!!

The music on this MoWest album is some of the best material released on the above mentioned label. The songs, writers and production are really just something music fans really have to give a spin and once spun, will keep on spinning. The first tract by Valli & Seasons is really just incredible and you will ask yourself, how does a band go from Sherry to You’re A Song (That I Can’t Sing). Odyssey comes in at track two and the first question I had was why wasn’t this a top ten hit or even a number one record as this one will move you from the inside out. This album will not disappoint other then, where has all this great music been.

  • Good but could be better.

While many of the songs chosen for this cd are good, there are many others that could/should have been included. Where is Mr. Fix-It Man by Sisters Love? Where is “I Want To Be Humble” by the Devastating Affair? What about Tom Clay’s million seller “What The World Needs Now Is Love”?
