About this product

Product Information

Gran Turismo is one of the most celebrated racing video game series of all time, and now all the exhilarating action of the franchise is being placed in your hands. Through several different iterations that have been released for various gaming consoles, Gran Turismo set a high bar of quality, with consistently impressive racing options, graphics, and gameplay. Now, with a game designed specifically to be enjoyed on the Sony PlayStation Portable, that same quality and excitement transitions to the world of handheld gaming. Head out onto the track to enjoy life in the fast lane as you test your skills and compete against all of the other high-powered vehicles. There’s a substantial amount of realism incorporated into Gran Turismo games that add to the authenticity of the experience. In this special handheld version of the critically acclaimed racing series, there are more than 800 vehicles featured as part of gameplay. Choose a terrific starting vehicle and then compete in an assortment of races to earn the credits needed to buy the other more exotic and powerful cars. The cars themselves are inspired by real-life vehicles from a number of different international manufacturing companies, including Bugatti and Lamborghini, which feature cars for the first time ever in a Gran Turismo game. Nissan, Ferrari, and many others have cars included in this game’s roundup as well, with the seasonal lineup being adjusted ever so often based on the amount of time you play the game. Once you select the ideal car, push it to its limits in intense raceway action. There are 35 licensed and fictional tracks to race on with 60 track layouts total provided, making it easy to continually shake things up and seek new challenges as you test out different tracks. Gran Turismo for PSP is the gold standard when it comes to handheld racing games, boasting the stunning visuals that this impressive system is known for. Designed with a new graphics engine that was designed specifically for PSP, the game displays 60 frames per second, which results in the racing play feeling much more authentic. In fact, it’s the most realistic racing game every developed for a handheld system. Enjoy all of these exciting features on your own by competing against the CPU or challenge your friends in a multiplayer format. Earn your bragging rights when you use Ad Hoc mode, which gives you the ability to compete against up to four friends at once. Once you’re all set with your designed cars provided by real-life auto companies, the competition is ready to begin! From Polyphone Digital and Sony Computer Entertainment, Gran Turismo continues the proud tradition of the bestselling series by bringing all the nonstop raceway action to a portable screen.

  • Fun game, worth the money, buy it.

This is a great game for the PSP system, lots of my favorite cars are featured and it is very fun. The only reason it only gets 4 out of 5 stars, is you can only choose cars from four different car companies each "day", so if there is a car in the game you really want you have to wait for that car company to show up one day. The other reason is that this game does not have a career mode, you just pick a track, a car,etc and race. The prize money is relatively high so it is easy to buy any car you want, the trick is waiting for it to show up.

  • Not Worth Your Money

Let me start out by saying that I am a great fan of the Gran Turismo series. It is the uncontested leader of racing simulators. However, it does not make the transition well at all to the portable system. This game has one thing going for it: the massive car list. Other than that, everything goes wrong. Unlike the rest of the Gran Turismo series, the career mode is not structured. You simply pick a type of race, the track, the difficulty, and your off. Also unlike previous Gran Turismo games, money is very easy to come by; you can win 50,000 credits very, very easily after one race. The cars are still expensive, but the money comes so easily it does not take long to save up. The other career mode is a driving school, with stupid challenges. The worst part about the game though, is the same ...

  • the best of the beste

Gran Turismo is available as both a Universal Media Disc (UMD) at retail and as a digital download from the PlayStation Store. The game features over 800 cars, although only four cars are present in a single race. The exotic car manufacturer Ferrari is featured, and for the first time in the main Gran Turismo series, Lamborghini, Bugatti and various other cars were introduced and fully licensed. There is no damage model in the game. 45 tracks are included, and most can be driven forward and reverse[citation needed], for close to 75 layouts. Gran Turismo is centered on completing driving missions in order to advance in the game, unlike Gran Turismo 4's open-ended map. The game uses a new trading system to allow players to acquire cars. Ad hoc multiplayer will be supported for up to four ...

  • Gran Turismo for the PSP

This game hasn't come out of my PSP since I got it! The driving characteristics are just like the PS2 version, only smaller. I think that more than makes up for the lack of a "Career Mode". You still have the "Challenge" section where they let you learn how to handle different corners and situations. Not as extensive as the PS2 version, but what do expect, you can put this one in your pocket and play it anywhere! Bottom line...GREAT game, graphics are awesome, driving physics are incredible, and the Bugatti Veyron is a MONSTER!!!
